Imagine a leaderboard with the following entries:

Now, let's consider the following nominations:

1) Chris Lee - "Baby" by Justin Bieber for $10

This will put Chris on the leaderboard. He is tied for second place.

2) Gary Davison - "Roxanne" by The Police for $20

This will put Gary on the leaderboard. He is now in first place.

3) Sue Sanne - "Toxic" by Britney Spears for $15

This will add Sue to the leaderboard a second time. This entry will be tied for second place. (Remember, you can nominate a single person for multiple songs, but they will only sing the song with the most points.)

4) Sally May - "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan Soundtrack for $8

This will add 8 points to the existing nomination for Sally, making the new total 13 points. Sally will move up to fourth place in the leaderboard.

5) Mary Ott - "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes for $10

This will add Mary to the leaderboard. She is now in a three-way tie for fifth place.

The deadline for nominations has now been reached. It's time to review the leaderboard standing and make adjustments wherever necessary.

First, we will address any cases where one nominee has multiple top five placements. In our example, Sue Sanne has a second and fifth place nomination—"Toxic" at 15 points and "I Want It That Way" at 10 points, respectively. Because a nominee will only perform the song with the most points, Sue will perform "Toxic". The nomination for "I Want It That Way" will not be considered. Here is what the leaderboard looks like now:

(NOTE: Performance in red text is omitted)

Next, we will address any ties for fifth place. Although we have a three-way tie in our example, Sue's fifth-place nomination is no longer being considered, as previously mention. Therefore, the tiebreak will be between Chris and Mary.

Let's say that Chris has the most votes in the tiebreak. This will mean that Chris will sing his song, and Mary will instead enjoy the show from the crowd. As a result, here is what the leaderboard looks like now (red text means the performance is not considered; green text means the performance will be considered):

(NOTE: Performance in red text is omitted; Performance in green text will be performed)

Now that all conditional scenarios have been resolved, we can more easily determine our top five. With that being said, the results are in!

Fifth Place: Chris Lee - "Baby" by Justin Bieber

Fourth Place: Sally May - "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan

Third Place: Sue Sanne - "Toxic" by Britney Spears

Second Place:  Bob Smith - "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers

First Place: Gary Davison - "Roxanne" by The Police
